The entire contents of 19th-century sculptor Edward Valentine’s studio were assessed, cleaned, stabilized, and prepared for exhibition. Among the hundreds of objects treated were the artist’s tools, maquettes, and furniture, as well as finished sculpture in marble, bronze, and plaster. These contents, including the original full-size plasters of Recumbent Lee and Thomas Jefferson and the lavish marble Andromache and Astyanax, now are exhibited in Edward Valentine’s original studio building at The Valentine Richmond History Center.
